Foster care is a complex and often overlooked facet of society, where children find themselves in temporary homes due to various reasons such as abuse, neglect, or parental incapacity. While foster care systems aim to provide safety and stability, the reality for many foster children is far from ideal. Let’s explore the challenges they face and the potential for positive change.


Foster children have had bad experiences and a lack of stability in their lives, which may affect their emotional and psychological well-being for a long time. These can be severe separations from the biological parents, frequent relocations within foster families and an uncertain future thereby intensifying feelings of loss, desertion or low self-esteem. For most foster children, frequent disruptions in education result from constant upheaval. This interrupts their academic progress as well as social integration that hampers these kids to establish stable relationships with peers and educators. Consequently, many foster children do poorly academically and might face additional barriers to higher education or employment opportunities in later years.
